- Former Complex Properties Supervisor, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Prepared and defended appraisals supporting the agency’s annual ratio study of school district taxable wealth. Appraised complex business properties encompassing the liquid and gas pipeline, electric transmission and distribution, telecommunications, railroad and cooperatively-owned industries.
- As a property tax consultant, Mike specializes in providing valuation and negotiation services for complex business properties assessed by both local and central assessment authorities. His experience includes both Unit and Situs property appraisal. Cost of capital studies, benchmarking, financial analyses, equalization studies and assessment critiques are some of the tools most readily used. He has been successful in securing more than $40 million in tax savings during his consulting career.
- His experience includes property tax projection and accrual reports, due diligence, purchase price allocation, and asset valuation for bankruptcy proceedings. He has successfully represented taxpayers in the airline, pipeline, electric generation, transmission and distribution, gas distribution, resort, retail and high-tech industries. He has experience in most of the states west of the Mississippi and numerous Eastern states.
